Local Teen Lego Artist Re-Creates His Favorite Vehicles

Maysen Lambertsen Builds Lego Masterpiece Replicas of Vehicles He Sees Around Town

By Savannah Kater, Daytona Beach FL, Macaroni KID May 20, 2022

Maysen Lambertsen's eyes lit up when he saw Andrew Stone's custom Ford F-250 in the most recent Christmas parade. Stone's truck was a part of the High Profile 4x4 parade display and was built by Benjamin Fields, owner of High Profile 4x4. The F-250 had a bright purple and gold Any Level Lift and 28 x 16 Forgiatos. During the parade, Stone was displaying how the Any Level Lift suspension system gives you the ability to control the height of your truck. Once Maysen saw the truck going up and down, he knew he wanted to recreate it at home with his Legos. He begged his mom to hurry through the rest of the Christmas parade to start his masterpiece.

That night, Maysen was able to replicate what he had seen in the parade and JR Lambertsen, Maysen's dad, reached out to High Profile 4x4 and the owner of the custom Ford to share his work. Fields and Stone both knew they had to share what Maysen created and celebrate his talents. Macaroni KID Daytona, High Profile 4x4 and Stone Cold Coatings worked together to share Maysen's story and secured tickets for Maysen and his family to attend a local Monster Truck Rally at New Smyrna Speedway: Monster Truckz.

Now, Macaroni KID Daytona wants to continue to share Mayen's amazing story with all of you (story told by Maysen's mother, Patricia Lambertsen):

"Maysen was born on January 6, 2009. He was born quick but that was the only thing that was easy. He later that day ended up coding in the nursery after only 10 hours. He had what was called a Level 4 intraventricular hemorrhage in his brain.  After that he was transferred to Wolfson Children's Hospital at Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville, FL, where he fought for his life. It was a roller coaster ride for about 2.5 months. The doctors tried to convince us that we needed to let him have surgery to place a Stent to drain the fluid from his brain so that he wouldn't end up with Encephalitis. We chose not to have the surgery which made the doctors mad. Our reasoning was that The Lord brought us to it , he would bring us through it.  He was diagnosed with seizures and will be on medication for the rest of his life.  But we can handle that.

He came home with a tube that helped him to eat, that went up his nose and down his throat into his stomach. He was constantly pulling it out, until the doctor said try him without it. He started at 6 pounds and boy has he made up time from being little at birth. The whole time we stayed at the Ronald McDonald house next to the hospital...they are truly amazing there!!!  Who knows what we would had done without being able to stay there. I donate every chance we can.

When we came home we didn't know how things would go. Doctors said that he would be delayed and they were unclear or his development would be. When he was 6 months we moved to a piece of property in Deland, FL and started a small farm. As he grew older he helped with the animals care daily. We had pigs, goats, dogs, and chickens.

He was eventually diagnosed with ADHD and Asperger's syndrome. He does have some learning disabilities but we work through them. For example, he has trouble tying his shoes but can build Lego vehicles from a picture with no instructions.

In elementary school he had two amazing teachers that I credit for his success of creativity and intelligence: Shelly Linger and Kim Jones!!! They are truly a blessing!

If you ask what he is saving his money for he will tell you more Legos.

We were in the Christmas parade in 2021 and the company that was next to ours was High profile 4X4. They do custom builds and lifts for vehicles. So Maysen began snapping pictures with his phone and working up details in his head on what parts he will need to build the trucks. He kept saying can we please go home and I didn't know why until later that night. We stopped by High Profile 4x4 to drop off the truck that he built for the owner because he was so proud of it."

The owners of High Profile 4x4, Benjamin Fields and Kellie Fields love the replica and proudly display it!

Macaroni KID Daytona fell in love with Maysen's story because it teaches you that you can overcome anything if you are resilient and it also teaches you to follow your passions - you never know where they can take you.

We are so proud of this local artist!

Keep an eye out around town, maybe your truck will be the next to inspire him!
