What are PLAE shoes you ask? Why the most awesome kid (and now adult) casual shoes on the planet! I can not talk about these shoes enough, my son (who is a bit sensory sensitive) refused to take them off the first time he ever tried a pair on, he even went as far as to sleep in them! He wore them every day for a complete school year and after a quick machine wash they look as good as new. no kidding. I was more than satisfied.

In addition, here's some info about the kid-centric design strategies and why that's so important to their development:
1) Kids' feet are wider in the forefoot and narrower in the heel than an adult's foot - our anatomical last is uniquely designed to mimic this natural wide-to-narrow shape of a child's foot.
2) Kids' feet are mostly soft tissue (cartilage) - their bones don't fully fuse until they are (approx.) 18 years old. which means their feet are malleable (and can be influenced). our shoes promote the natural development of kids feet. Our anatomical last provides gentle arch support without unnaturally influencing the development of the arch (as a uniformly molded footbed or arch cookie would do)
3) There is a far greater variance in the girth of kids feet ••• our interchangeable 3D-fit system (tabs) is designed to accommodate for variations between a wide/skinny foot. single direction tab fastening protects against soft-tissue compression due to over-tightening (vs. traditional cinch-back velcro straps)
