Kindergarten is a big milestone for kids and parents. If you have a rising kindergartener, here is a simple checklist to help you get ready, including how to register with Volusia County Schools.

First Day of School: Monday, August 10
Students must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2026, to begin kindergarten.

πŸ“ Registration Checklist

Parents/guardians registering their student for the first time in Volusia County Schools must provide the following documents before their student can start school:

  • Student's original birth certificate (not hospital certificate)
  • Immunization record signed by a physician (HRS 680 form)
  • Florida Physical form (DH3040) completed within one year of registration
  • Student's Social Security Card (requested, but optional)
  • Two proofs of residence (lease, power bill, water bill dated within 30 days)
  • Parent/Guardian driver's license or identification

  • Registration is open for all students new to Volusia County Schools.
  • Current students advancing to the next grade level do not need to re-enroll.
