Local Fitness Class Encourages Parents to Bring Their Children to the Workout

"What if I'm not strong enough? I haven't worked out in forever."

"What am I supposed to do with the kids while I workout?"

"Where do I even start?"


These are all self-doubts that all parents have when trying to put themselves first and Kat Tucker Fitness has the answers. 

The motto for her class is "Children are the reason, not the excuse," and she implements this in every class as she inspires parents to bring their children with them to workout. 

The children are encouraged to play in the same space while parents can focus on themselves and partake in her fitness classes.

Parents and adults of all ages are welcome to attend, but children are not required. You don't have to be a parent to attend these classes. All fitness levels are welcome.

Kat's classes are "women focused, group strength and cardio classes where children are welcome to attend and socialize." She offers them every Tuesday and Thursday morning at the Port Orange REC Center from 9:30 am - 10:30 am and has many package options to choose from, from single class attendance to monthly packages: https://www.kattuckerfitness.com/schedule-a-class

While Kat Tucker understands the body as an ACE certified trainer with pre and post-natal specialization, she also understands the mom mindset on a personal level.

She has four children herself, ages 1 to 7. She writes on her page: 

"Oh believe me, I get it. Four children, 1yrs to 7yrs. Sometimes I can’t even process what’s in front of me. 

“How can I get a workout in?”

“If they’re with me, I can’t focus.”

“They won’t let me.”

“I will one day…when they nap…after bedtime…”

My favorite - “you can’t get a GOOD workout with your kids around.” 

Believe me. I do it too."

She challenges mothers to adjust their mindset: 

"But what if we changed the narrative. What if we adjusted our goals? What if we gave ourselves the power back, what if we were teaching them while doing something for ourselves? What if we just tried?

Imagine allowing your endorphins to take over for an hour and do what they do best - relieve pain, reduce stress and improve your sense of well-being.

What if your kids had a blast?!"
